Add the following line to your Bonehill/BHAreas.bat right along with the other similar lines before installing the mod. This should eliminate any CTD's you get going into this area, and probably the Cromwell Smithy in BG2 as well.

weidu --out BH-REST --biff-get-rest AR0334.WED AR0334SR.BMP AR0334LM.BMP AR0334HT.BMP

No. The Arlax CTD was caused by AR0334.TIS not being properly extracted for use. The latest RoT install already resolves this.

Later than 1.12? I had 1.12 installed the last time and couldn't get beyond the CTD. It didn't start right away, but the CTD happened later in the smithy parts so could be something unrelated to the TIS biffs?

Some people get it, and some people don't. I think it has something to do with not being able to properly extract the resources from the compressed bifs. This won't hurt to run in the bat file even if you're not getting the CTD, and will only help if you are.

If you are able to enter an area at least once without a CTD, generally any subsequent CTD in that area is not due to one of the area files, but more likely some other incompatibility that has been triggered by the creation of a creature, or setting of a global, etc, etc.
