I've deleted all the registry entries for the game I can find, to no avail. How do I get this game to start seeing sense?

I uninstalled the game to do a reinstall, and now I can't even do a basic install. The computer thinks that Baldur's Gate 2 is still there, even when it isn't ... when I run the TOB setup, it asks if I want to uninstall TOB ... and then of course it gives an error message when I say ok because there ISN'T anything to uninstall. I can't get it to run the install procedure. TOB is still in my Add/Remove programmes list too, I can't get rid of it.

It really sounds like you've installed your game originally in other than the C: drive. When you uninstall the game to try again, it doesn't delete your registry entries. The only way to re-install then if you don't get your registry cleared up is to use windows explore and manually run your setup.exe, or your "Start" then "Run", then find setup.exe in your cd drive.
It takes a village...

I did install it in the D: drive, and I always have. I hate installing games and stuff on C drive. I usually just do exactly what you said and run the setup.exe manually, but it's not working ... instead of running an installation routine, it just keeps running the uninstallation routine. For something which doesn't exist.I uninstalled the game to do a reinstall, and now I can't even do a basic install. How can it still be doing this without registry entries?

For future reference, if anybody else is having this problem, go into the registry, and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Uninstall
And look around in there for a subkey containing Throne of Bhaal or Baldur's Gate stuff. Deleting it makes everything peachy.
Now I can go back to trying to fix the problems in the OTHER thread. Did I anger a God, or something?

The problem occured because of an incorrect uninstallation hereby bypassing your uninstall log (normall does this with any program),, or the uninstall log file was removed by accident.
Never remove Shared files unless you are certain nothing else needs it.
Clever trick:,,, when asked anytime in the future if you want to delete *.* shared file,,
do a google search for that files name, and you will bring up topics of programs etc. that requires it to run properly.
Also,, XP,Vista users may notice duplicate files placed in system folders. (Never Delete these) Why.... Other programs requiring a file will attempt to copy itself to prevent barfing should the file in question be needed to run another program at the same time!
Something "Microsoft" thought would be a quick workaround that frees' up caching and removes TSR's!
Lastly,, get a good registry cleaner that removes bad entries etc.
