Since i started making the Jonathan character, I've been trying to think of a quest.

I wanted to do an Orc village thing: if you feel eadly, you can kill them, if you feel macho, you can challenge them and dominate them. And if you want to be sneaky, you can accomplish the mission by stealth, not some half-baked cheesy stealth, but really stealing in, doing the job, and stealing out.

I think I just came up with the plot hook. Remember Marl from Feldpost's Inn? You pretty much have to talk him down from a fighting mood, since his son died. I want to hoook Jonathan's queast on that. Jonathan, it seems, was part of the party which Keldath went out with, and so, as soon as he's in the party and Marl sees him, Marl will start in again.

Of course, Jonathan doesn't know at the start what happened - the party split over some minor issue, and they went separate ways. The trail would lead to Keldath being last seen going to this Orc village.

So, I'm wondering if there might be a cool multi-way ending.

If you're fast enough on the draw, you can get in, rescue him from the orcs who are torturing him for the location of a hoard of treasure - which he doesn't know about, but another of his party members (Safana?) did.
If you dally too long, he's been tortured to death, and his corpse is on display on a pike.
If you get there fast enough, attack, then retreat, they might decide to kill the prisoners to keep from ahving to watch them, so more Orcs can go out and scour the area for you. This would depend on party level.

Since orcs are fairly low XP, a small village of a hundred or so would be not too much XP, and still a serious challenge if you take it on early.

does this seem like it ould be fun?

New area's are always good. Don't forget to include an option for if the player deals with Marl before picking up Jonathan.

heh - they'd have to, since Jonathan greets the party after resting at feldpost's Inn :-)

As for the new area - I'm afraid I'm not the cgaphics artist some here are; It's going to be somewhat crude. I won't leave it a stick-figure/line drawing thing, though :-)

The Goblin village from Lionheart might suffice as an Orc village for BG.

The house are all dome shaped hide tent structures in a rather rocky, mountainous setting.

Example attached.

Oooh, looks cool. Can you make an BMP of it and email it to me?

I'll see if i can get more of the images from the village. I'm still trying to catch up to where i was before I lost all my savegames from my old pc.

I am really sorry to trouble you Rabain, Sir BillyBob and I have been trying to get some of the maps from lionheart we have had little success extracting them from the game. We would like to use them for Classic Adventures, I am trying to get the following maps
Slave Pits(interior and exterior)
Barcelona - Port District
Barcelona - Gate District
Barcelona - Temple District
Any help would be great. we could speed up the release a huge portion of Classic Adventures with these maps. Thank you for any help or advice.

My method is the long and painful way. I take screenshots across the map and paste them individually into paint and save as bmp.

The I use photoshop to merge them and clean them up so the joins can't be seen etc.

I have made several maps for WTP this way, none identical to the Lionheart area's but using them as a base, flipping them over etc.

I did manage to extract all the data files from the game data.dat file but I cannot find a viewer that will open any of the area art files. They are all ".way" files, must be some in house format.

I'll see what i can do for the slave pits. Barcelona might be a very large undertaking, i can give you the screen shots if you want? There will probably be 30 or so screens per district.

Rabain any help is great! We have had the same problem trying to get the art files. I never could get the ".way" files. If you can send either Sir BillyBob or myself any screenshots and the slave pits that would be great! Thank you so much!
