Rehash - Sarevok's Death

I've finally killed Sarevok at the end of BG1, but now i'm at a loss of what to do next. Upon his death nothing happens (nor once all his allies are killed too). Also I can't exit the building they are in. CTRL + 4 shows where the exit is, but the tooltip doesn't change whilst hovering it and nothing happens when clicking it. Even if i use the console to escape the building, when I travel to the palace, Belt and Liia have nothing to say to me.

I'm presuming Belt and Liia are the people to talk to after Sarevok is dead, so what do i do?

Is there anything quick and easy I can do to remedy this so I can progress? (such as manually setting a variable)

Oh, and thanks to everyone involved in making this for adding so much enjoyment to the game :cheers:


Well, I've did some testing, and it appears that the reason this happens is because whenever his HP fall below 1, it 'skips' whatever event is meant to happen. From my experience, anyway. I've been able to beat the game by managing my damage (killing him VERY slowly once he reached 'near death'), but I haven't been able to repeat this yet.

So, ah, any solutions (other than using the console)?

at my Installation worked to CLUA out of that area, then going to Belt in the ducal palace, and speak to him after changing the variable "ENDOFBG1" to 2.

I change it with NI but you can do it even with console ;)

Ran into the same problems after Sarevok's death, but unfortunately the solutions mentioned here didn't help. I clua'd endofbg1 to 1, then clua'd my way out, went to Belt in the palace, clua'd endofbg1 to 2, had the dialog, started the cutscene - and it stops right there. All i can see is a forest lighting with 2 people standing there, and nothing happens. No party screen, no menu, nothing. Everything went fine so far, does anyone have an idea what I could be missing? I'm still running BGT 1.00.

I have a few more questions btw:

a) do my characters lose their inventory when going from BG1 to BG2?
b ) how do I find out in which area I am? Is there any "CLUA:TellMeMyAreaCode" function? Or a list of all area codes with a short description? It is a little bothersome to check allover the forum every time I simply need a way out when somewhere on an island, castle or whatever broken map.
c) if I made a new install with all those new versions of mods currently out (including BGT, WM6), could I still use my current savegames so that I don't have to start all over again? :crying:

Well, the problem still remains... transition from BG1 to BG2 goes well, but when I wake up in the cage in Irenicus dungeon nothing happens. No fighting, no thief running in, no Irenicus showing up... and no Imoen there to let me out. Do I have to set another Global to make it work?

Yes, unfortunately.

If you still have the save before fighting Sarevok, it is better to
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("SarevokBoutToDie","GLOBAL",3)
if Sarevok died without triggering any dialogue or movies. This will allow proper progression through the end of BG1 scenes.

I'm still getting stuck in the cage... killed Sarevok, then CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("SarevokBoutToDie","GLOBAL",3), went to Belt who talked to me immediately, got the cutscene, wake up in the cage, no controls available.
Tried again additionally setting endofbg1 to 2 before talking to Belt, then he doesn't talk to me at all.

Also tried setting SarevokBoutToDie before killing him, then either going straight to Belt or killing Sarevok first. Neither way helps :( Any further suggestions? It's getting a bit annoying...

EDIT: I don't know if this is of any help... compared to starting a new game in SoA, the map is centered around my character. In SoA the screen is centered a little more to the lower left. Could that be the reason that Irenicus doesn't walk in?

Is BGT-WeiDU the only mod you have installed Rakhu? If not, please post the text contents of your WeiDU.log.

I did download some fixes from this forum (and only this forum), could it be that one of them has overwritten the dungeon area incorrectly? Maybe if someone could send me a working area file this issue could be solved.

Hmm, I nothing stares out at me there. Can you find AR0602.BCS in your override directory, make a copy of it, rename the copy to a .txt extension, and attach it here?

ok, i make no promise this will work, but here's a slightly edited version of yr AR0602.bcs.

what i've done is add Continue() to each of the first two script blocks - the third black contains the NewGame action, so it should work, as the script should check the first two blocks then contnue to the third. or at least, it may well work, hey?

Script looks fine. How long did you wait before you immediately quit the game? You can Alt-F4 the game normally, can you not? If yes to the previous question, did you also have banknotes before you went through the transition? If so, and you have a fair number of notes, perhaps try going through the transition, and when you think it hangs, have lunch/dinner/break or whatever...come back in ~15 minutes (just a guess) and see if things work out. If not, please let me know.

I have no merchant league notes in my inventory. The only thing I can do is Alt F4 to quit. I tried waiting 3 hours now, so I'm afraid this is not the reason.

Funny though... if I clua to ar0602 after having killed Sarevok and having set CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("SarevokBoutToDie","GLOBAL",3) then the Intro with Irenicus appearing starts out correctly. Unfortunately, as I'm not in the correct place of the map, Imoen can't walk to me, so that part is broken. Needless to say that there's even another Imoen in my current party :lol: (Strange however that Irenicus is still able to cast his torture spells normally...)
Anyway, does anyone have an idea what causes the very appearance of Irenicus to start? And could that someone check if the trigger is correct in my area file? The only thing that could cause a difference between getting there by Belt or cluaing there is walking out of the labyrinth, going to the palace and talking to Belt - somewhere along there must be a wrong variable or whatever.

By the way, if you click too fast right after talking to Belt (for instance if you want to speed up the dialogue) your party members start to move - which still causes the cutscene to trigger (fade out), but it's the palace map reappearing, and none of your party visible... minor bug though... just mentioned it because I'm a little bored today :P

What I still can't understand is which action in the script centers the view slightly beneath my character... it does definately *NOT* do so when starting a new BG2 game, where my character is rather to the top and right of the screen. Could that be a clue?
Talking about clues... one other difference is that my char is lying on the ground much longer than normal... I wonder what causes that?

Edit: As you might have guessed I've started trying to read the source code as well... but there are still a few mysteries there for me. I found that ARAM00.bcs places all party members (at least the original BG1 ones) into area AR0602. However, the player char isn't placed anywhere... Is that why he doesn't appear where he should? But then, why does he appear where he appears!? :wacko:
Next question: what's the issue with all those different Imoens? ARAM00 checks for Imoen2, AR0602 destroys Imoen, and moves Imoen2 somewhere onto the map, or if no Imoen is around creates an Imoen10... slightly confuses me <_<
